Quite right John, I couldn't agree with you more. The advantage Tanzania has over many of the other countries is that they don't allow any human habitation within the areas designated as Game Reserves. Even the hunting camps have to be removed at the end of the season and all staff returned to town......There's no doubt this is expensive for us guys in the trade....... but as far as I'm concerned, it's worth every penny to keep it that way. The buffer zones etc, do allow human habitation and that's one of the main reasons that most of these areas have lower game populations. If the community development fees are paid promptly and used correctly to improve the lot of the locals then it can make a big difference to their attitude to the game. |
