we always joked that my dad could buy a mecedes-benz on his VISA... then one year, he did! (actually, it was my mom's, and they did end up financing it locally, but they walked into the dealership and signed a Credit reciept for $43,000).

that was different though (0% and miles!) they paid it off inside the week. borrowing a bit here and there that you might take as much as a year to pay off, I can handle.

but if its going to take you longer than that, you need to spend less or wait... thats just really not prudent.
