If you can hit a rugby ball or American football at 75 yards then you're good enough.....part of the PHs job is to assess the hunting clients abilities and either give them a bit of coaching or just to get them a bit closer than normal before the shot if he thinks its necessary.

Don't let inexperience put you off...... we all have to have first's in life.... including PHs. There's not a single one of us who hasn't had to shoot his first Elephant, his first Buffalo and so on...... but that's part of the fun.

I took a client to Tanzania last year who is 70 years old. He had never even picked up a rifle until less than 5 years ago and he shot shed loads of game including Buffalo & Lion. If he can do it at his age then so can you and your Father

I'd say go for it while you both can. The best hunt anyone can ever have is a Father & son hunt.... it will be something that will share for the rest of your lives.
