Bulldog, In my opinion velocity gains for hunting purposes are not a big part of the selection process for me. The arrow speed is going to depend on what I am hunting. BIG game, 800 grain arrow, fairly slow speed, 250+-fps. The big guys are not going to jump the string and you are NOT taking 40+ yard shots. Small stuff with lightening type reflexes (Impala, Am.Antelope, Warthog, Duiker) that seem to dodge bullets are a different story. 400 grain arrows sailing at 295 fps help but are no guarantee with these little 4 legged nightmares. Here the speed helps me with my poor yardage estimates. With that being said I personally gain approx. 10fps.. I say approximately because conditions in the field ie: hunting, dictate the real results, and I don't usually have a chronograph with me during a stalk. I believe someone asked if I was sponsered. No, not by anyone. I don't need any added pressure to succeed . That would diminish the fun on my hunts, and that, for me, doesn't work. I will confess that Paul at Starrflight (FOB) does give me all the fob's I want. I would like to thank everone for their congratulations and compliments. I have been humbled by the accomplishment, attention, and noteriety I have recieved over my Big 5. I still can't believe I did it. |
