Thanks to NitroX for inviting me to join this site - it looks great. I am an in-field hunting journalist and author, affiliated to Roger Whittall Safaris in Zimbabwe.
A restriction does not necessarily mean the guy can only hunt leopard/plainsgame. There are various different restrictions, but most guys end up being restricted on elephant - ie, they can hunt everything else. Examiners like candidates to have personally shot a fair number of elephant before they give them a full license, and it is not always easy to get this experience these days. Many candiates get restricted each year with the words 'come back when you have more elephant experience' ringing in their ears. I shall get back to you with the various different restriction levels, and what each level enables a PH to hunt.
