As I understand it, the croc farm near Chete was privately owned. I've read about croc farms in the area from articles and books dating further back than the creation of Lake Kariba, and the croc farms handling recovery just as far back, btw.

I have no issues with the croc farms buying meat, so long as the meat comes from the regular quota system and not in addition to it. I would still prefer the meat to go to locals when possible. The locals are so poor, and the meat from an elephant so welcome, it just makes me feel better.
