Hi all, This is a very sensitive issue. Firstly I don't think that the SA government really knows what is going on in the SA hunting industry. If there is an isolated case of unethical practise in SA it always gets blowen up. As Jaco mentioned there are about 300000-400000 local hunters in SA and if you go back in history you'll see that there are very few of these unfortunate incidents. However it happened and it looks bad. IMHO if any hunter for that matter agree to shoot any animal under that circumstances he only need to answer to himself and it is not my place to critisize but the difference is that I can look at my trophies with pride and honour. All these lions that are bred for hunting is for the foreign hunting market and the only way it will stop is if foreign hunters boycott lion hunting in South Africa. Obviously there is places in SA where you can hunt lions in the right way but they are far and few in between. Jaco, If somebody wants to can you I hope they do have valid reasons my friend!!!! |
