Re: baboon-killing dog

I once was working on a hunting farm in Namibia and the farm manager at that time was a PH from RSA. He told me the story of a very special dog, a pitbull that had a extremely developed hunting passion. He killed warthogs in the dozens and his owner mounted all the tusks in the dog's kennel as his own trophy collection. His master degree in hunting was obvious by the fact that he killed big male baboons on a regular basis. His tactic was to attack at full speed right into the middle of the troop and snatch the biggest male, kill him quickly and go home also rather quickly. This pitbull also retrieved a wounded waterbuck that had been wounded and followed up for hours previously, the hunters gave up after a long and tiring hunt but the dog didn't. He came home many hours late chasing the wounded bull in the direction of the farm veranda so his master could finish the job.
