Glad you like the picture which I took in Namibia a year or two ago. I'm a keen wildlife photographer of (particularly) Dangerous Game. I try to take photographs the same way I hunt. Up close and on foot and I'm lucky enough to manage to sell a few images to magazine and book publishers etc. ![]() We also run a fairly small photo safari operation as well, and I usually try to guide the clients to photograph the animals the same way I'd hunt them. A lot depends on the individual animal and individual client and to some extent the individual day. - but it's a lot of fun and I love doing it. I've found the trick is to watch the animal's body language carefully and act on it. All that said, there are also a lot of tricks of the trade that will give you great results with reduced risk and/or effort. - For example, hand reared animals that have been released back into the wild and properly placed high seats etc. I've even used blinds and baits to bring the predators in to photograph them. - Took a great shot a few years ago when a really old, beaten up Simba came and sat right against the blind and looked inside. ![]() ![]() About the only animal I don't enjoy photographing are the rhinos. - they always seem a bit dumb and boring to me. Elephants and Lions are my favourites and the hardest is the Leopard, although I've even been lucky enough to manage to get a few shots of them........ |
