Re: Favorite African Country

I am frankly amazed at the low frequency of Zambia in this thread. It is absolutely the last bit of Southern Africa that has really wild animals, not too badly touched commercially people, with a real desire to help, a forward looking "harvesting " policy (hate that word). Fantastic mix of jesse, mopane, plains, river valley. great roads that are passable but rustic as are the villages, a terrific variety of trophies which whilst not all "world class" are all very representative, hardly any tourists to fall over, Couple of good hotels in Lusaka to treat yourself at the end and camps where the cooks know how to. Tripping over gazillions of Ele and Lion whilst after Buff is def interesting

Having said all that, ZA is undoubtedly Gods country and in its day must have been awesome. That whole bit between Baadplass and Sabi inc Graskop, Skukuze, Pilgrims, Blyde river, Gods window, Nelspruit hills etc etc - all the Jock country along low/high veldt and the Drakensbergs offers plains, mountain, bush country, weather from a frosty English December Morning to a sunny May Day and highland stalking way beyong the stags at Glen Feshie.

So far I am very lucky to go to Z and ZA both each year. I hope the Wildlife depts and approp govts hang in there
