Re: WTK: How to NOT look like a "dandy" on Safari

I wouldn't be too worried about it. You're the paying client and the customer and it is your safari.

I like to wear "Serengetti" shirts as well, but prefer the older models now longer sold. I also mainly use long sleeve shirts as it is possible to roll the sleeves up if you are hot on a long sleeve shirt, but impossible to roll down the sleeves of a short sleeve shirt if you start to sun burn.

Same with long trousers, the heat has never bothered me, but I know the thorns could if wearing shorts. I use the Cabellas seven pocket cotton trousers.

All 100% cotton for me.

I think it is funny the guys that always arrive with 100% new clothes and one way to not look a 'dandy' is to have worn in clothing. I wear some of this stuff most days anyway and mine have grease and oik stains, holes, frayed trouser cuffs etc so I have to pick the less "worn in" ones.

For boots last trip I just wore brown shoes/boots similar but fairly light weight. Most safari areas these are fine, except if one will be hunting in very rocky country where they might wear out too quickly.

After my last trip where the sales clown tried to sell me Courtney type boots for over US$300 in Zimbabwe I have gone right off these and see no need for them whatsoever. Other than being made of elephant or buffalo hide (probably actually just cow hide), and are a pretty plain nothing special design. Good boots for a 'dandy', hey?!
