Well I have read the books as recommended, researched topics on the net, scrolled the pages of this Board and talked to folks that have hunted in Africa. My question is this: All my life I have dreamed of hunting in Africa and of course movies have helped my day dreaming....I have the vision of what to wear and what a "proper" hunter should wear while on safari. The problem is that recent photos have shown clothing choices that I would not choose to go out an get a humber in...the John Deere hat, the green sweatshirt with Ducks Unlimited on it and blue jeans....is this what the modern hunter wears currently while on Safari in Africa? * I am a newbie and don't claim to be anything otherwise but hunting in Africa is expensive and the equipment I have already purchased is equally high priced. So, the question stands, what if I want to wear the tan khaki short, the green rolled-up long sleeve shirt, the Russell PH custom boots, the custom leather belt holding my five or so rounds of .375H&H and the short brimmed olive drab "boonie" hat....what about the custom vest festooned with pockets? Is this not the "practice" of the client in Africa...will the PH laugh at me, will he be wearing the "Ducks Unlimited T-shirt?" What am I to expect out of what my "vision" of the all around hunting experience while in Africa? |
