Gryphon, you and I are 100% on this. The problem with SA or Watervalley is the expectation coupled with the price. If you pay $10,000 for 5 days people expect to take something nice home. Don't forget that the $10000 hunt cost another $5000 to take in travel expenses. That's the downside of Guided hunting. If a person pays less but then pays a hefty trophy fee than he can be satisfied with taking less. Bye the way, can't you guys hunt Watervalley for allot less than the guided fee? I was quoted a reasonable figure for a non-guided hunt. The only way I've ever hunted in SA is by foot. Dropped off with a tracker and maybe a PH and picked up that evening somewhere else. You don't see all the Big Animals that way but you earn and appreciate what you do take. It is a good way to hunt if you are the only client on the property at the time. The hot shower and cold beer is good at the end of the day though. That NZ hunt is pure crap. Go shoot a drugged Deer that was trucked in for the movie star and his pal. What BS. |
