45 was most respectful, until everyone decided to get a rope and find a tall tree. While not my cup-o-tea, the 45-70 has its place in the sporting field. There is nothing wrong in using it for deer, on up to elk, bear, or moose and for African PG. The hunter has to be better at his craft, that's all. It has plenty of knock down punch in the stronger modern rifles with heavy loads and good bullets.

I wouldn't consider it for DG, but it is just fine for many other hunts, if the hunter wants to work in close.

I did enjoy the photos posted and found no rancor or challenges in 45's original post...cut the damned rope...!
