Ho Hum. Is there anything new here? The original post contains all the usual .45/70 "arguments" found in every other .45/70 for dangerous game thread on the net. If you want to do it, just do it! *** As for a .45/70 being able to kill a cape buffalo, I KNOW it can do it, as a fellow client used his "Guide Gun" in .45/70 in 2002 in the Matetsi when I was there. I think he was on his seventh (or something) African safari and wanted to try it out. Most of the hunters actually using .45/70s on safari are not newchums but have been many times. I also don't see why a factory bolt action in a .458 Win Mag or .416 Rem Mag is beyond a guy's budget but a Marlin is ??? As for Lupo's stories, it's funny how some writers always get charged by cape buffalo but this time he stopped it with his "hammerhead". ![]() Ho hum. Just do it! *** For sizes and weights of North American bison, European bison, water buffalo, gaur and cape buffalo, it might be a good idea to consult reference sources. *** Some members have asked for a lever action forum for these threads and I think that might not be a bad idea. |
