Someone please put this thread out of it's misery....the bullshit is getting deep. A 45-70 not making it to the vitals on a black bear? MAYBE...but I notice there is no mention of bullet construction in this story. If the guy is shoting a soft bullet then I believe it but that's the hunters fault, not the round's. A bison bull taking 10-20 minutes to die with multiple 45 cal bullet through both lungs? Hmmmm.....yet somehow a .single 510 diameter bullet gets the job done in a few seconds? Only if that single .510 bullet knocked out the top of the heart and caused the bull to stroke out. Honestly, I am no huge advocate of the .45-70 (especially in Africa) but sometimes the bashing of the round on one side gets every bit as ridiculous as the advocacy.
