Thankfully I do not need glasses at all. Have to keep away from a computer screen a bit more to stay that way. Glasses or goggles have another essential use. Travelling at night in an open vehicle can result in a lot of bugs hitting into you. Glasses, goggles, even sun glasses will protect your eyes from possible permanent damage. The Top End pig hunting trip I made last year was a very good example. Driving back to camp each night after dark it was not uncommon to be hit in the face by an insect a few times every minute. Sunglasses meant I could see anything but I never got anything in the eye. I don't know how Garth the driver/guide coped. Also hanging thorny branches in Africa can be a danger as well. |
