Re: Definition of a DG Stunt Hunt

just a comment on hunting DG with a bow.
Last year I guided a client on a buffalo cow hunt with a bow. This was my 3rd bowhunt for buffalo. I learned a few very valuable lessons, of which the most important one was- Let the client sign a contract in which he agrees to pay for the animal, even if I have to shoot it unwounded. That cow charged us 5 times before she had a arrow in her. She stopped at about 10 yards every time, and I was already bending the trigger on more than one occasion. I was ready to convince the hunter to rather take his rifle, when he shot her from 15 yards, right into the chest. she turned, ran about 40 yards, and stood there bleeding for another 3 minutes. Then only did she topple, and we could crawl in closer, and put another arrow into her brisket. I will also try and avoid a frontal shot with a bow and arrow, as the arrow does not "pass through" enough, and are stuck in the wound, inhibiting bleeding.
