I wear both but would never wear contacts in Africa, expecially for DG. Twice, while shooting a 12 ga. have had a contact pop out with the recoil of the gun. Even though you can shoot hundreds of rounds off the bench with heavy rifles with no problems, you may well end up in an unusual shooting position such as a semi crouch where the recoil forces may be accentuated, the lense a bit dusty, and oops where'd everything go!
