In reply to: Actually two of the nicest meals I have had have been guineafowl. One was at a pub / restaurant in Stratford-upon-Avon in England (ie Shakespeare's "home"). The pub was called the "Slug and Lettuce", unusual imagery for a restaurant . I ordered a roast or grilled guinea fowl and I remember it was absolutely delicious. After that a dozen or so of us went to a couple plays at the RSC. Good wines at the "Slug" as well. The second time I remember was good, but have no other recollection. Another fowl story. When hunting with PH Pierre in 2002, he bragged "You can ask for any sort of food you want and we can supply it, cooked anyway!" Well I thought I am not going to be a smart arse and ask for something impossible in Zimbabwe, so I asked for a nicely roasted (or however cooked) guineafowl. and he said "We can't do them, they are too tough and take too long to cook" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am not going to let him live that one down. Can't do Guineafowl in Zimbabwe! What a fowl answer I got. |
