You mentioned a $5000 budget. With that much money to work with you can have a synthetic stocked rifle built with all the bells and whistles. As for caliber my choice would be for the 338WM. I've found it a very versatile caliber for NA and Africa. I personally like the 210 and 250 NP but as Allen suggested the 225 TSX maybe the way to go now.
