Re: Black Rhino Hunting and Numbers

I would like to dart hunt one. It is my understanding that they will take several measurements for the taxidermist that will then replicate the rhino in fiberglass. The mounts are said to be tough to distinguish from an acutal mount.

The closest I came to one was about 3 feet. We were in a open top game car and spotted one. I had pictures that I kept taking up until the last moment of his charge. Luckily it stopped.

I was never nervous. Mainly out of sheer stupidity and the fact that I was lauging at my buddy that caused the charge. Evidently, Black Rhinos get real agitated at excessive movement.

My buddy was trying to climb over the seats to get to the back where I was in order to get better pictures. The rhino didn't like that and came at full charge. He was straddling one of the seats when the PH yelled at him (under his breath)to stop moving! My buddy stopped, the rhino stopped, then my buddies camera went into full rewind (gotta get him a digital).

That was the funny part to me . It was like high noon at the OK Corral. The noise from the clock going "Gong! Gong! Gong!" and just waiting for something to make the next move.
