Re: Using elephant hide.

I've seen a top of the line double gun case made from that hide .
The case also included ivory handled tools and cleaning rod.
The hide was sprayed with a grey leather lacquer which was easy to clean with a damp cloth.
I've also seen western boots made from the same hide and colored with a leather Lacquer.
They looked very dressy.
I do not agree with the comments that elephant hide is dirty and hard to keep clean.
If its tanned properly and finished properly you can make anything you want out of it.
My wife has an elephant hide handbag that looks very smart.
