I'm currently reading the novel "Zambezi" by Tony Park. Tony Park is an Australian from Sydney and previously worked as a newpaper reporter, press secretary, PR consultant and now a freelance writer. he was also a Major in the Australian Army Reserves and served in Afghanistan in 2002. The book "Zambezi" deals with a fictional story set in modern Zimbabwe, Zambia and Tanzania. The death of a young female research assistant, reportedly by an man-eating lion at her Mana Pools campsite brings her American soldier father to Africa to find out the truth. Intrigue associated with Islamic terrorism in Zanzibar and elsewhere is interwoven into the story. The animal action is mainly the "game viewing" type with the inevitable crowd pleasing greenie non-hunter bias but it is a good read and well worth searching for. A great novel to take along on safari. I am 286 pages into the 423 pages but have already decided to buy Park's other novel. When I have finished I will see if some extracts can be quoted here.
