When I discussed this with my wife, she asked if I was a aware that the Cape Buffalo might attack and kill or injure me. I said of course I was.
It did no good for me to point out, in the end, life will kill you, that's why we have a lots of old friends, but not so many friends who are old.
I am headed to Canada next week for a black bear hunt. While of course a black bear could attack me, I am more concerned about the possibility of falling out of the tree stand-so is she. At 77 years I am not as stable on my feet as I used to be. She is concerned I might stumble and fall out of the stand. Me, I'm more concerned I might fall asleep and fall out. So to make her happy I have invested in a tree stand fall arrest safety harness-I might even wear it.
Here in the US when you get old enough, you go on Medicare and have annual medical check ups. They ask some questions that are designed to check on your overall well being. One of the questions asked the last time I was in was, "where would like to be at the end of your time?" Without hesitation, answered, "in the deer blind."
I have been a hunter since I was legally old enough to get a license--age 12. I can think of no better place to go than in the field.
I hope you have a great hunt DD, glad you have the get up & go to live your dreams & enjoy life! Wonderful to hear!
