Has anyone tried wearing long leather boots for hunting?

Ive seen one Englishman showing pictures wearing them a few years ago.

Long leather boots look classicly cool. Probably fine for cooler moderate climates. But look uncomfortable in hot Africa. Maybe not more than normal hiking boots with gaiters. I've never worn a long set of leather boots. Only rubber ones. Long leather boots look a hard tug to get off and on.

If buying some long leather riding boots Argentina would have been an excellent place to source them. Except the exchange rate is a killer.
