OK, I'll chime in.

Plains game only. Three trips to South Africa. Hunting in the bushveld in the northern Limpopo Province.

2000
.375 H&H, 300 gr Hornady round nose bullet (Ruger M77 Magnum rifle)

2002
.30-06, 220 gr Woodleigh round nose (Ruger M77 MkII rifle)

2005
8x57JS, 220 gr Woodleigh round nose (Remington 700 Classic rifle)
9.3x62, 286 gr Woodleigh round nose (CZ 550 American rifle)
I primarily used the 9.3x62 rifle. I did take a couple of Impala and a couple of Warthogs with the 8x57.

Admittedly based on this small sample size, the 9.3x62 quickly became my favorite.

All loads were handloads. Why did I use heavy, round nose bullets in all of the loads? I just wanted to do it the old fashioned way. I was VERY happy with the performance of the Woodleigh bullets.

Cheers! Bob F.
