He was certainly a tough bastard but then life was so back in those days too. Imagine today a 12 year old being put on a boat and sent away to get out of the families hair and make his own life. Turning 13 and travelling around a strange country finding work and eventually passage on another boat to get back home to try and get enough money to start another quest to escape his homeland and fulfill his dream of becoming an elephant hunter.
