I was exploring an area we ultimately drilled in the Livingstone Mountains overlooking Lake Malawi in Tanz (tough gig, but someone has to do it!). Lot of walking and mapping and a lot of nine foot grass - the big rains having just finished. When we first went there I asked our local guide if there were any Leopard around - "Hapana Chui". Ok no leopard, strange I thought. We came upon a shallow water filled creek bottom with a fresh dugout canoe submerged in it. On the mud flanks of the water was some rather good pug marks. Bosco, what are these , Chui! I thought you said hapana chui! Seems they thought if I knew there were leopard there I wouldn't come back and spend any money |
