After more 30 years of hunting in Africa I am of the opinion that there is no an ideal battery.

The largest part of the game that I shot in Africa were with the cartridge 460 WBY-Magnum , namely from the bustard to the elephant. The cartridge 460 WBY-Magnum limited me just to long range shooting , but very different cartridges filled this gap.

If I consider what I still own , an ideal three rifles battery for Africa would be a DR 577 Nitro Express for backup , a scoped bolt action rifle caliber 500 Jeffery or 460 WBY-Magnum and a scoped bolt action rifle caliber 340 WBY-Magnum.
