The extinctions would be local Ash. Some species would move out of the area, like other herbivorous and the animals that depend on them. Any area specific species would most likely die out as they, I would think, not move on. This would also included plant species. It is the lack of flora that drives fauna to move if it can.

I have seen narrow belts of where Ele have over feed and destroyed. Not one living plant in sight.

I can only speculate as to the cost. They don't want every wanna be big game hunter in there wounding animals. They know without massive culling that they can not afford, it aren't going to change much so bearing the first point in mind, they will make as many $ as they can. This may allow them to cull more animals. Plus the PH outfits will have to set up operations there and this cost money so they will be charging top price especially as there should be plenty of larger Els there.

My speculation may be way off as I do not know.
