Sable prices have tumbled dramatically in South Africa over the last year or two. There are literally tens of thousands of them all over SA and many farmers have surplus stock that they need to get rid of or watch them die from the drought affecting many parts of SA or from old age. The prices will probably stay stable or even go down a wee bit in the near future. This is the result of game breeding. Farmers have managed to breed sable, buffalo, etc on a large scale and the numbers of these species have, as a result, climbed dramatically. The next dramatic price drop will probably be for buffalo, and for exactly the same reason. |
