Peter V, very nice film clip. By shooting early as he did, this hunter preserved for himself enough time to work the bolt and take a second shot if it had been needed. A fellow using a double could theoretically permit the ele to get closer before pulling the trigger.

Also, the elephant had his ears spread, indicating it may have been a bluff charge? Who really knows if it is a bluff until the ele stops or turns away.
