Larcher, The entire purpose of an FN solid, such as those from GS Custom, Bridger, or the Norbert SuperPenetrator, is to maximize penetration, which as you point out may be a negative in a buffalo herd. The FN solids also create a wider wound channel than a round nose solid. The NF cup point achieves some expansion for a wider wound channel, but maximizes penetration among the expanding bullet family. Next step down would be the regular North Fork soft nose which expands more and thus penetrates a bit less. But still should outperform the Swift A-Frames, etc. www.northforkbullets.com To be assured of not penetrating out the other side of a buff on a broadside shot, I would choose a Woodleigh soft. However, I prefer to hunt dagga boys rather than herds, so for me buffalo are a solids-only affair. |
