Re: How much is an average hunt in South Africa?

Will be interesting to read and analyse the article.

Haven't hunted in Africa for a few years now, last time was 2006 I think, then 2002, and 1994 before that, and first visited Africa in 1988.

Been surprised by some of the advertised prices and costs seen recently, not only for safaris but all sorts of stuff. Higher prices than I ever expected for many things.

But do plan to hunt Africa again, and again. Will manage it somehow. And will be good to look at your article is see what it says and adds up.

All up if paying for a plains game safari, a reasonable bag of animals and if including airfares, freight and fees for skins, skulls and horns, AND taxidermy, US$20,000 sounds pretty much a minimum. One reason many of us don't bother too much with trophies is the gouging airlines and freight agencies charge for shipment, and the cost of normal taxidermy. European/skull and cap mounts look great to me, skins for the floor too. Or photos. I did enjoy my tuskless elephant hunt, no taxidermy. Ha ha vs if trying to mount an elephant! Not possible to bring ele back to Aust anyway. But in the end a nice trophy room of shoulder and even full mounts is spectacular, if one has the room.
