George used to own a gunshop in Pretoria. He was a bit of a showman and used to kick off many of his big-game hunts with an oxwagon and full crew through the streets of Pretoria before setting off to the hunting grounds.

A good friend of mine here in SA owns his 10,75x68 Type A Mauser that he wrote about so extensively. It still shoots and is in good condition.
