There was a major outbreak of rabies amongst kudu on the highlands west of Windhoek in Namibia in 1980. The local farmers told me then that when a kudu cow gets rabies, she comes in a "pseudo-mating season". She then infects a large number of bulls! I don't know if there is any real scintific truth to the story, but many of the Khomas-Hochland ranch owners said the same thing. In good kudu hunting. Andrew McLaren |
