Frank, Thanks for the story. Bushbuck have the worst reputation for it when wounded. Amazing story and how it still had fight. Would also be interested in other comments on the bullet used. Has it been successful or failed in the past? My own first bushbuck went into thick and very dark scrub when wounded. I remember the big wide white eyes of the tracker and realised he was very scared. I often look at the trackers to see if a situation is dangerous or not, as their faces usually show it or not. My buck was barking at us unseen, and had some movement. But after getting a good way into the scrub, he had limited movement, I think the spine was damaged, so while he had the will to fight, he did not have much means. Must have been an exciting incident. And thank goodness the buck was also quite blind. The PH might have ended up with a long horn in him otherwise, and with some luck and shooting prevented that. Thanks very much for posting |
