I do not have Dr Deer or Ripps African experience or knowledge but from my one hunt for DG I do know how quickly Buff and Ele can appear from nowhere. I for one would use a calibre and ammo capable of dealing with DG if hunting in DG country. Me it would be a powerful 35cal and Hydros as mentioned, 9.3X62 or 64 or a 338Win/RUM also with hydros. Might not be legal but if you have no choice, better to have it than not have it.
