Personally I'd use my everyday work horse the 300WM with 180 gr A Frame @ 2920 fps. Should I risk dangerous game encounters, I'd opt for the 375HH also with 300 gr A Frame @ 2550 fps. Of course if eles in the area , 375HH with GPA solid @ 2170 fps.
JB, why do you shoot the solid so much slower than the A-frame? 400 fps slower? Do you get a similar point of impact for the two bullets?
My .375 shoots the 300 gr Woodleigh RNSP and FMJ at about 2350 fps for both of them. The barrel is a bit shorter than the usual .375 barrel as well.
Hi John The solids are off the shelf by the French Sologne maker. I opted for those available. As I hardly have any use of solids, I picked the first cartridges immediately available instead of reloading for a rarely used ammo. Prior I was using PMP ammos but they don't exist any longer. But I appreciate the Woodleigh RNSP and FMJ for my 470 Chapuis.
Following this thread, it downs on me that in France we aren't offered a wide choice of calibers. Lazziness or lack of curiosity?
