Given that Frank Ernest Bowman, Flying Officer W.M. "Bill" Jenvey and John Dawkins were all Australians and involved in African Hunting I thought that this may be the place to dredge up some information on them. Bowman was a professional hunter how at times guided Ruark when Harry Selby was unavailable. He later retired, possibly with the closure of hunting in Kenya, and returned to Australia. Bill Jenvey's .450/500 Holland Royal (?) was listed for sale in a London Guns (?) catalogue here in Australia in the late 70's (?). John Dawkins hunted with Pondoro Taylor and was a pastoralist in South Australia (?). Ruark visited Australia. Did he visit Bowman on a pastoral property ??? All good information to start with. Does anyone have any information on these gents?. |
