I have no idea why the link didn't work for you. As Cazadero says the title of the article is incorrect as lioness doesn't make the "ultimate sacrifice". What happens is a group of lions are preparing to cross a river in the Okavanga Delta when the subject lioness sees a crocodile that she perceives as a threat to her cubs and the rest of the pride. In an incredibly selfless act she goes after the crocodile. At one point the croc has her by the nose but the lioness manages to escape, leaping quickly to shore. The diversion allowed the rest of the lions to swim across the river. The last picture shows the lioness with a punctured nose.

thanks for explaining the whole story, I am so fed up (and distressed) with cubs being killed that I hardly look at sensational lion videos.
