In Namibia a couple of years ago I was hunting Mt Zebra. I got a blister and the PH, a former RSA soldier, used a hypdermic needle to suck out the stuff. Not drain but remove. He then injected some sort of an antiseptic drying agent. I wish I was listening closer.

It dried out the area and sealed the skin. By the next morning it was if the blister never existed.
