I also had a .375 H&H/.458 Winchester Magnum double rifle along, but used it only rarely, the .375 more often than the .458."

I forgot to add that on my third trip I took, in addition to the above, a Kreighoff combination gun in 12 ga./.30-'06 with an interchangeable rifle barrel in .222 Remington, a pre-64 Model 70 .450 Watts, and a 7X57 on a G33/40 action. I used all of them to take game. The 7X57 in particular was very effective on animals as large as wildebeest, and I also took a record book Peters gazelle with it. The .222 was used on a nice representative klipspringer.
