I couldn't agree more. On my boat during the season we carry a full trauma bag. For the experience lacking in first aid there is a 24 hour 7 day a week doctors on call phone number for mariners. They are available to help you with any kind of emergency 500 miles offshore until help arrives.
Now back to a safari or hunting first aid kit. I don't think the same trauma bag is in order. I carry a soft sided pocket first aid kit. Bandaids, 3 in one ointment, clean wipes, mole skin for the occational blister, tums and immodium A.D. A little thought and experience puts together a very useable in the field first aid kit.
