Lets hear some more comments!
My experience and opinion goes two ways when it comes to a plains game rifle..First, I will NEVER hunt in a dangerous game area ever again for plains game with anything less than a .375H&H..case being, you are sneaking into a hide during zero dark thirty, suddenly a tuskless cow with calf come boiling out of the brush as you got too close but didn't see her until it was too late..you are going to look really silly (if you still can when its over) with a 270 in your hand shooting 130gr softs...this happened to me..won't happen again..

This guy's experience mirrors my gut feeling. If I'm hunting deer in bear country I will definitely be loaded for bear, even if it means losing a couple pounds of meat or some more hide to bullet damage. Hunting antelope in lion country, same thing. You see, I have this aversion to becoming dinner while looking for my dinner. That, and I want to shoot a lion anyway. The way I see it, hunting what lions like to eat carries a decent chance of stumbling on a lion.
