It's illegal to shoot albino or melanistic deer in my state-I don't agree with the law. They're protected because they're rare and pretty, but albinism is a recessive genetic defect. A minor defect, but a defect all the same. It surfaces most commonly as a result of inbreeding, so it's not an indicator of a healthy herd. If I was in a legal state I'd shoot an albino deer in a heartbeat and take my chances with superstition.
