The quota for elephant's pairs of tusks is 1540 for Africa in 2011. Now Botswana and Zambia stopped ele hunting, less 450. Americans can't import tusks from Mozambique and Cameroon, less 140. They could hunt in Tanz (200) and Zim (500). Now Americans would only hunt the 150 in RSA and 70 in Namibia. The result is that the trophy fees in RSA and Namibia will soar, and the rest will have to deal with no American clients. In my opinon, some outfitters would suffer from this loss but to what extent? I'd like to know what is the market share of American hunters first? What's the proportion of ele BULL hunters among all those who hunt in Africa? How many successful ele Bull hunters would hunt once again an ele bull when they have secured a decent pair? And marginally, is Searcy toast? |
