Re: VIDEO: Massive brown bear takes a tumble

I didn't type any comments. Wanted to see what people said first without any bias of opening comments.

I thought the shot was overly distant. Not having hunted bear in the mountains, I wouldn't know what the standard is, but would have thought closer was better. As the bear was walking closer, I can't see why they didn't wait to let it closer.

The first shot may be too far back. Considering the dust impact of the pass-through shot. Unless the camera man is well to the left of the shooter and not a couple of metres away only.

Having taken a shot at an extreme range, not shot it properly, it is harder to hit it again and finish it off properly. This is usual with overly distant shots.

When the bear is sliding and tumbling down the mountain, the background whoops, yells, cheers are really ffffing aweful. IMO. I would be ashamed at that sort of shooting and result, or a little embarrassed. And that sort of carry on .... hell I must be boring on hunts, because I enjoy them without all that racket and chest beating. Perhaps I am more reserved ..... "Dude", "dude" "Hey Dude" ... Are these guys 15 years old?

The film is part of an aired to TV hunt I believe. One reason they probably took the over distant shot. Because they want to succeed for the sake of TV film sales.

Very nice trophy bear at the end.

To any US members. Do they have to pack out the meat as well by law? Just interested.
