You are hunting in the Zambezi Valley. You have taken a shot at a leopard the night before, the leopard wounded fled into the night. You and your PH along with Ngambo the tracker, followed it by torchlight for a period of time, very nervous and frightening experience, but abandoned the tracking when the tracks led into very thick bush.

The next morning at dawn you resume the chase. You agonised over which firearm to carry, imagine the tense and nervy followup through the thick forest and undergrowth, pushing through fern leaves and bushes, trying to get through wait-a-bit thorns, patches of grass higher than you are ... only being able to see the back of the PH ahead of you, sometimes the tracker in front of him
